Q My credit card company called me and said that somebody tried to charge a penny to my account. When I said it wasn’t my charge, the issuer canceled my card and sent me a new one. Was this an identity thief at work? What can I do to protect myself from identity theft?

WILMINGTON, DEL. Prosecutors say a Philadelphia woman has been sentenced to a year in jail for stealing the identity of a Maryland woman. Twenty-eight-year-old Courtney Henry was also ordered to pay the victim $22,600 in restitution.
